Been getting Wayyyy too fussy lately for some reason - so this was done very quickly.  Loved the process and will be doing more.  Now just to retain the light...

Maui Plein Air Invitational in Lahaina

My two best plain air compadres and I had the absolute thrill of attending the sunset paint out for the exceptional painters of the Maui Plein Air Invitational last night!  Just Wonderful!  This was after painting all day - and then a fantastic bite to eat with more friends at Penne's Pasta.  What a day!

Pure Silver and Copper Drawing Points - Page Up!

I now have a really wonderful page up for my heavy No. 4 gauge pure dead soft silver and copper drawing points on my website JoanneHopper.com.

There are lots of specs on the page, but in a nutshell - there are three point style choices, they're about 3 inches long (more than enough for many years of drawing), I fashion the points myself by hand and they come with a holder.  The softer pure silver is fantastic to work with!

These are designed to cover larger areas on your drawings.  Love the chisel point myself as it makes wonderful calligraphic marks as well as smooth gradations.

Maui Open Studio Weekend

Maui Open Studio was a Fantastic weekend! Thanks so much to all who came and chatted and laughed... Already can't wait till next year!

We had a wonderful, wonderful weekend - meeting an incredible variety of artists, hearing the most fascinating stories of our visitors!  Eating amazing food, a little vino... laughing and learning...  So Much Fun!

Kula Tree Line, Pukalani

Quick study done late one afternoon last December looking off toward the island of Molokai.  This is one of those times the color balance is exasperating...  The trees and foreground are just right, but the sky and clouds have too much red in them.  I need to learn how to make selections in Pixelmator to work this out.

Maui Open Studio Gala Reception was too much fun for words!  Gorgeous venue, phenomenal Big Band live music, hundreds of people, great artists and New Friends -  Can't wait for next weekend at the Hui No'eau!  Will be in an upstairs gallery - please come and chat...
